Miscellaneous: Coding Sketches
Figure 0.1: What does the word ‘scan’ look like in action?
Figure 0.2: Covid has had a severe impact on how much time we spend on our screens. This sketch flips the tables on the user, embodying a dissociated yet surveilled presence, the computer watches you now. Is it tired of you as much as you are tired of it?
P.S! (if you tap around the content of Figure 0.2, you can obfuscate your face!)
Figure 0.3: Fun interactive pearly blobs!

Surveilling the Self
After downloading my Instagram data, I stumbled across some interesting findings in relation to the way I interact with social media and conversely, how social media interacts with me.
A large focus of this project is placed upon surveillance due to data found on when my Instagram got hacked. I explored the ideas of misuse of readily accessible devices and my personal relationship with feeling surveilled and the paranoia that comes alongside. Lastly, the blossoming out of the state of fear into an online atmosphere where one feels safe to create and share with the world.
I made two sketches. The first is a website built to mimic feeling of being surveilled by displaying the number of different devices that have hacked into my account. The second sketch explores the stark contrast between the feelings of anxiety and freedom.
